A sideshifter is one of the most-specified forklift attachments in North American warehouses for a simple reason: pallet placement is never perfectly centred. Rack slots vary. Floor-stacked loads drift. A hydraulic sideshifter lets the operator correct that offset from the seat — move the forks left or right by up to ±100 mm without reversing and repositioning the truck. On a busy floor running hundreds of picks per shift, that adds up fast in cycle time saved.

The JL-SS mounts on ITA standard carriages in Class II, Class III and Class IV. The hydraulic cylinder drives the fork carriage laterally across a low-friction slide rail. The three capacity ratings cover counterbalance trucks from 2.5-tonne warehouse forklifts up through 7.5-tonne heavy industrial units. If your forklift is rated at 3,500 kg, spec the 5,000 kg attachment — the load-centre margin matters when the load is asymmetrically placed.

Why ±100 mm is usually enough

Most rack-to-load alignment errors fall within a ±75 mm window — floor flatness variation, pallet overhang inconsistency, rack depth variation. The ±100 mm stroke on the JL-SS covers that range with 25 mm of headroom on each side. Wider stroke variants (±125 mm, ±150 mm) are available on order if your application involves more severe misalignment — specify at order. The standard stroke ships in 3–5 business days; extended stroke is a 2-week lead time item.

Field installation

Hook-on ITA mounting means no welding, no drilling. Two technicians, hand tools, under an hour. The attachment ships fully assembled. Connect the hydraulic hoses (SAE couplers standard; JIC and BSP adapters available), hook on, secure the retainer pins, and function-test the lateral shift. Cycle it left and right three times under no load before taking it to a live pick.

Hydraulic from the seat

Lateral shift from the auxiliary hydraulic controls — no dismounting, no repositioning the truck. One lever left or right, load aligned, pick completed.

ITA hook-on mounting

Fits ITA Class II, III and IV standard carriages without drilling or welding. Field installation in under an hour. Comes off just as fast when you need a different attachment.

Double-acting cylinder

Positive hydraulic pressure in both directions — controlled movement into and out of centre. No relying on gravity or spring return; full operator control at all times.
